I am having a problem where a Lacie external hard drive will not show the files that are on it on windows xp but will on windows 7. I have tried it in two different xp computers but with the same result. The drive is developing a tick but it isn't terrible yet.
Yes it is giving the click or tick of death but we have the stuff backed up on our server so that's not pressing concern.
On a side note I found a solution from a random site I found googling. It turns out it was a bad power supply. For whatever reason the windows 7 os can still read the drive when it is giving lower voltage through the usb to where xp cannot.
Do you guys know why this is? The power supply was the last thing I thought it would be.
The tick is in an external hard drive... Its a tick of death the drive will fail soon.
