Hi,
I've had my Samsung hard drive (400Go) for 2 years now. It started to show weakness when it crashed windows explorer every time I'd click on a folder. Now it shows in explorer as "Local Disk", and asking me to format it if I want to use it.
I tried TestDisk last night, did an analysis and "wrote" (I don't really know what I did, I just followed a step-by-step blog). As soon as it reached 100%, explorer pop'ed-up and showed my hard drive with it's proper name and I could browse it like I used to (still with that folder crashing explorer when clicked).
Today it's all bad again, showing as "Local Disk", asking me to be fomatted, etc. I did the exact same thing as yesterday with TestDisk, but nothing worked. I tried to modify the cylinders and heads, as it warned me already yesterday there was an error there, but it didn't change anything, exept there is no warning in the analysis now.
Number of cylinders: 381555 (I didn't change that)
Number of heads:64
Number of sectors: 32
Sector Size: 512 (I didn't change that neither)
About the warning message saying the correct value of heads should be 8, if I do so, I get a warning message in first screenshot telling me to put 64 instead of 8 ...
Thanks for helping,
Sam
