hey,
ive decided that i need another hard drive due to the fact that my current one is running extremely low on space,
ive never done this before, what problems will i expect to encounter?
do I have to have an OS installed on this new HD?
Can i install it with the 'master/slave' connectors?

Your primary hard drive should be connected to the primary master position
on the first IDE cable.
You can connect another drive to the secondary or slave position on the
cable.
Once installed you will need to partition and format it.
You may want to move some of the data off the C drive to the new drive
once it is installed,as windows uses the main drive for the swap file and
a near full drive can slow the computer.
Anothr option would be to move the swap file to the new drive.

You do not need to install an OS on the second hard drive. After you have it connected You can go into Disk Management, in Windows, and partition and format the drive.

Be warned... After you install a 2nd drive you'll soon want a third and fourth and fifth. Before long you'll be building storage servers and pillaging dumpsters and computer shops for more drives.
