HI all,
If some on could help me.

i have a dead hdd, pcb and heads. so i was looking into the idea of getting another donor drive.
what are the rules that apply???

My idea is to get a working drive the same model as mine. and pull the heads and pcb off it and place into my drive? is that possible or is the fact that u need 100% the same for it too work?

the drive is a Western Digital WD Caviar SE 250gb WD2500JB - 00READ0 off the top of my head

thanks
matt

It's impossible at home, especially for mechanics. You need a clean room, a special head swapping tool, and, most important, enough experience to do that. So, don't even try. And remember: once the drive case is open outside a clean room, your data is gone. Even a data recovery pro won't be able to do much.
