I dropped my external hard drive while moving my computer. When I try and play video files form the external they are very slow to load. I think I know the answer but have I damaged my external hard drive?

A very good chance that you have - back up any data you don't want to lose now, and download the manufacturers diagnostic utilities and run those on the drive

Is there a way I can find out who the manufacturer foe my hard drive is? Do not have the docs anymore.

You can check device manager under hard drives, that will show all the drives on the system so you will have to look at the drive in the system to know which is which in the list., otherwise remove the drive fromt eh enclosure and look at the label. Often times the docs for USB drives won't tell you who built the drive inside anyway. For example I have opened Lacie drives that had samsung drives, others had seagates...
