I am putting a new hard drive and memory in my Dell Inspiron 6000, and we cant find our Windows XP reboot disc. Do I need to buy one, or can I download a free one? Also, where is the most reasonable place(that sells quality products) to buy a hard drive and memory? Anything else I should know about my little project? Thanks ahead of time!!!!! :)

Did your existing drive fail or is it still working?

You can request a replacement disk from Dell for a small fee> Dell - Support

If your existing install and disk are still good you could also clone the current disk and deploy to the new disk, but you will need either a portable USB hard drive or a PC to slave the drives into.

Changing the drive is pretty easy> Documentation

You have a EIDE drive most drives on the market now are Sata so make sure you are looking at EIDE drives> Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
