Anyone know anything about a message I got that read: "windows requires a digitally signed driver" ?
Trying to install an external hard drive, and the above message came up.
Its a "Freecom Hard Drive/3.5/USB 2.0 Win&Mac"
My laptop is Windows 7 and 64-bit.
Thanks.
Your windows should automatically be able to detect the drive since its a USB external drive
Are you able to see the drive if you go to Disk manager?
Start>computer>right click go to manage> On the left hand side of the new window that opens click on Disk manager
should be able to see CD/dvd drive, your OS Drive
and another Drive
Try to right click on it and assign a letter
Windows 7 makes it difficult to run anythign that doesn't have a signed driver. You can hit F8 at boot and chose the option to ignore unsigned drivers but you will have to do this every time you boot. Better to see if your HDD company has a new signed driver.
If finding the drive in Disk Management, right-clicking on it and selecting initialize then assigning a drive letter and formatting it doesn't work, maybe you can call the Freecom contact number for assistance in getting a signed driver.
