Was the HDD having issues
I have never used that but you can try do it with killdisk
it comes with ultimate boot cd Ultimate Boot CD - Overview
just burn the iso on to a cd restart the computer and boot from it get into HDD First run the diagnosis on it from it and if it comes back with no errors then go to KillDisk then select the partition which will be your whole drive and wipe it
