I have a desktop with a m3a78-t MB. And a Phenom ll x4 chip with two optical DVD and three 250 hdd one is wd the others Seagate. I started to have problems with the computer shouting down noticed the CPU was running way too hot. Open the case and found the problem clogged CPU fan. Went ahead and cleaned the tower and components and put it back together. Now the BIOS does not recognize the hdd. On first attempt the BIOS did recognize the wd he'd but since this drive is not bootable I tried to reconfigure the sata cables to see if I had the order wrong. The BIOS will not recognize anything now and I am at a loss. All the hdd should be working I wouldn't think all the sata cables would be damaged. The optical drives via ribbon are working. I have tried toggling bettween ide and ahci like I have seen in other posts. I have tried other hdd with sata I know works. If it is the onboard sata ports what's may be going on. Any help is appreciated.
I tested the drives in another tower as you suggested and they were fine. I put them back in and they seem to be working again for some reason. I went back to doing checks because there was nothing new in the install. It turns out it was the power supply line I was using to power the devices was frayed and stripped. I just happened to use a different on in the re-re-install. Thank you for your help. I am going to just cap it and eventually buy a new psu. I am now having problems with lagg time now, but I think that I will do a fresh install since I already backed everything up. 72 hours straight trying to figure it out and it ended up being a bad conection im kicking myself. Thank you for the fast replies
Glad you got to the culprit! Check out our list of recommended PSU's
