4K Sectors and me

I had three 2TB drives, WD20EARSx2, and an HD204UI.
I formatted them correctly for their 4kB sectors with Active@ Partition Manager
while on a rescue boot disk (Win 6.x/WinPE based).

Originally I thought the drives would be fine used by XP as storage and not as system/boot volumes. While on XP I'd nearly filled two of the drives and gave one away.

After further reading, months later (-_-;), I was concerned.
I checked many files that were downloaded/transferred while I was on XP and none of them have CRC errors.

Is this because partition was created correctly on an OS that supports 4kB sectors and the later assumption of 512B sectors by XP/Win 5.xx causes correctable errors?

Anything useful is welcomed.
