What is the brand name of your power supply? You do know that 512 of memory, minus the 64mb for the video card is barely enough to do a decent job with XP, don't you? NOt saying that is it, but wanted to point that out so you know more about your rig.

Is there any chance that you had to just shut it down for any reason, like maybe it freezing, or even shut it down too quickly when you were shutting it down? That information might help us to pinpoint an issue.

hey sry i didnt include this info.

the comp is my friend's own.and was on and a power failure occured in my neighbourhood.

when i look closely before the computer restarts i see a glimpse of what appears to be a BSOD.
___________

anywyas. i tried a few things. i figured tht the hard drive prolly crashed. so i plugged it up to another desktop and i installed xp on an unused partition. booted the computer and now im trying to get all the information i can from the crashed partition. but i cant get into "my documents" because the administrator was password protected and it says the drive is inaccessible., is there anyway to get past this?

If you had a power outage and it shut down, then clear the CMOS and see if that gets you back up and going. Many times with an unexpected shutdown, the bios becomes corrupted and needs to be reset to the way it should be and clearing the CMOS will do that if that is the problem.

Be sure to unplug it from the wall and you can use either the jumper method or just pull the motherboard battery for a few minutes. Ground yourself always before you get in that case.
