I was wondering if I could get some help on picking the right system between the two combos :
1 - Intel E6550 with Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD board for $203 (2.33 gHZ)
or
2- AMD Dual Core 5600+ with ECS NFORCE6M-A at $129 (2.83 gHZ)

I like to mess around with Overclocking a bit, but not an expert, would like to stick with a stock cooler.
I already have an ECS Nforce4m-A board with AMD 4800+, I am surprisingly able to OC the 2.5GHZ stock speed to 3.0 on the ECS board.
So even if ECS boards are not known for OC, I squeezed a little bit out of the AMD 4800+.
Maybe I can do the same with the 5600+ combo.

Thanks for any help from you experts !
All your post reponses are impressive ....

the intel set-up is a much better deal

the intel cpu pushes more data per clock cycle >>>> so you cant soley compare their rated MHZ speed anymore

the E6550 will hit 3.0ghz

the E6550 beats the 5600 AMD even at stock speeds! the E6550 just hits passing gear when overclocking >>>> the new intel cpus will overclock WAYYYYYYYYY better than their AMD counterparts

Thanks, but I'm a bit confused, because the TomsHardware link above consistently shows that the AMD Dual Core 5600+ is better or at least similar. The Price/Performance index blows away the E6550.

what ???? the 5600 has a score of 2088 and the E6550 has a score of 2098 ?????

the motherboard sold with the E6650 is drastically better and higher quality compared to the motherboard sold with the 5600

the E6550 will overclock beyond 3.0 ghz the 5600 will struggle to get past 3.0ghz / if it will ?
