Hi Team,

I wanna reformat my computer, but since my CD-ROM is not working, so I use External CD-ROM. My questions is how to setup the BIOS so that when it starts the system it will read from my external cd-rom first. I use XP-pro actually, and it's a Toshiba laptop. Also, my external CD-ROM is connected through USB.

Thanks in advance.

If I am not wrong, to go to the bios, you just press Esc when it's booting right. Because I don't see any advance bios setting anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean that you've entered into your Bios, and there's no "advanced settings", or haven't you gone into the Bios at all?

The instant your laptop starts booting, it posts a message of this type "Press XXX to enter setup". XXX can be Del, F2, etc. - depending on the manufacturer.

From the moment you actually enter the Bios settings, navigate through all of it, until you spot somewhere the "Boot sequence". Don't forget when you change the boot sequence to the desired one, to "Save changes and exit". This usually requires pressing F10, and then Y.

It should be under the BOOT DEVICE ORDER options listed as USB BOOT DEVICE or OTHER BOOT DEVICES.
