Hi:

I am keeping my socket A motherboard, PC Chips 848A, going, and it can handle CPUs running at 266 MHz as well as 333 MHz. My XP 2400 is 2.0GHz and runs at 266 MHz. The Sempron 2800 is also 2.0GHz but runs at 333 MHz, and costs much more than a XP 2400. My memory is 1.5 Gig of 333 MHz. Will the Sempron provide any appreciable difference in the speed of the PC, due to its higher FSB? I am not a gamer (except MS Flight sim) or overclocker. Please help me decide whether the extra expense would be worth it.

Any input on this would be highly appreciated.

their is some gain; although I would not consider that a notable upgrade.......... if you can get the sempron 2800 for $20.00 or $25.00 more than the 2400 .......it would be a worthwhile investment ........if more than that; IMHO would be a "no-thanks"

you would see some improvement; but it wont be anything that gets you excited

Thank you, Linderman! I already have the XP 2400. I will spend the extra $20 on the Sempron just to get a visual on what difference it makes over the XP. I have two identical M848A mobos to install.
