hi, im thinking about adding more ram to my computer since i only have 256RAM but i dont know what kind will work with my computer. I bought my computer around 2 years ago a Dell Dimension 4600 (no longer sold) and im not sure what kind of RAM would be compatable with my computer. My current memory is "256MB duel Channel DDR SDRAM at 333MHz (2x128m)" Can anyone tell me what kinda RAM is compatable with my computer? and also where i could purchase it from? i want like 1 gig ram
-thanks

the "333mhz" is your total FSB so your FSB is 166mhz. since you are running DDR, you multiply the FSB by 2 which is 166mhz x 2 = DDR333mhz.

the memory which will be compatible with your computer is PC2700, which supports 333mhz FSB. here is the rundown:

PC1600 = 100mhz x 2 = DDR200
PC2100 = 133mhz x 2 = DDR266
PC2700 = 166mhz x 2 = DDR333
PC3200 = 200mhz x 2 = DDR400

hoped i helped.

If you go to https://www.crucial.com/index.asp they will tell you which Ram will work in your machine. With this info you can buy it there or elsewhere.
