It seems the knob who runs the computer store doesn't really know what he is selling. He set me up with a biostar mainboard U8668D which he said would handle the p4 3.0. well it does but it is only picking it up as a genuine pentium running at 1.5 mhz. Basically half the processor I purchased. Can anyone help me change settings, update bios, over clock, etc. I am all ears. One question, I wouldn't consider it overclocking if the board was designed to handle the cpu? Am I correct in this assumption? Please HELP!

I am running windows 2000 pro
Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG
VIA 82C3148 rev 0
BIOSROM 256K
Memory 512 MB

Thanx

The U8668D does support P4 3.06, but that is at 533MHz FSB. You might check the type of P4 that he sold you. If it is a Prescott core CPU, it runs at 800MHz FSB. This is probably what he sold you and the reason it is only showing half speed. Intel Pentium 4 Prescott CPUs are not supported by your motherboard.
