No video signal and USB ports active

My computer seemed to lose the mouse and keyboard connection. The only way I could shut it of is by holding down the power button. When I restarted the computer there was no signal to my monitor. When switched video calbes to a VGA the nosignal message went away but the screen was blank. I replaced my wireless key board with an illuminated keyboard with a cord and it would not work either. My feeling is that it may be the mother board, or the CPU.
I have a Gigabyte mother board and an intel core 2 duo CPU

I would appreciate someone's help
Thanks in advance
Ralph

cmos reset
turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
reinsert the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer

there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver
2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper
a cmos clear switch or button
there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
model
wattage

check the listings in the bios for voltages and temperatures and post them
