A day ago my motherboard blew after 2 weeks of problems and such. Anyway I bought a new motherboard which arrived today and I spent the day assembling it.

The problem is that when the power is turned on my mouse light lights up but the motherboard and fans don't, though a faint hum comes from my graphics card (I think), does anybody have any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it.

The mother board in question is:

Asrock 939N68PV-GLAN
Geforce 7800gt
2 x 512mb DDR RAM
Athlon 3200+

Thanks in advance

What PSU do you have?
Try doing this > https://www.techsupportforum.com/f255...em-171424.html

Good link provided. Always do a full bench-strip. If you have a multimeter you can see if your PSU is putting out the right power (or at all). If not, then invest a couple of bucks in one of those little generic Power Supply testers. They come in handy :)

Here is a link to a few of them:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tester&x=0&y=0

I would go ahead and get one that also checks the molex/sata power plugs as well, but that's just me. Still no substitute for a multimeter but great for things like this. I personally believe everyone should have one...

I go into all this detail because if your motherboard got fried, a lot of the time it is because the PSU killed it :(

Definitely test the Hipper supply, it's also a tad small even for a 7800GT

A small update, I've borrowed a multimeter and stuck it across the green and black pins on my power supplies 24pin ATX connector and I get a voltage across it which oscillates from 1.6v to 3.9v. When I tried across the -12v (blue) pin and the black I get 0 volts. Does this mean anything?
