i have a new laptop running windows 7 its specs are 640 gb, hd 6gb ram, ati 4650 graphics and amd turion ultra dual core at 2.5 ghz. wantin to get a faster dual core but to do so i also have to get a new motherboard. so my question is do i even need a faster cpu or is 2.5 ghz plenty fast?

ok so i guess my biggest issue is will my laptop support these new high demand games. maybe get more ram? better graphics card?

Laptops are not like desktops, you can add ram but that's about it, MMX video cards are not all standard and very expensive if you can find one.

Laptops are designed and intended for portability and convenience. They are not readily upgradable.
