Hi,
I have a problem with a Acer Travelmate P453.

The fan spins, the ethernet lights are flashing but there is no hard drive activity and a blank screen.
There is no output to external monitor.
The CMOS battery has sufficient charge, it's also been disconnected for 20 mins to reset BIOS.
Reseated RAM, swapped slots.
Applied fresh paste to CPU.
Hard drive light and wifi light flash briefly then go off.
DVD player clicks when powered on.

Could someone help me diagnose this please?
TIA

Do you get a display if you connect a secondary monitor?

Remove the Battery and the HDD. Just power it up via the power adapter. If you get nothing on the screen still, then there has been a short on the motherboard and it needs to be replaced.

Removed the above, still no screen I'm afraid.
I've also had problems with a faulty power switch prior to it not booting.
Is it possible that has shorted the motherboard as was getting some confusing continuity readings when testing it, however I've no idea of the pin out.

Faulty power could have caused a power surge and shorted the motherboard.
