Hello. I currently have a clarkdale 650 I5. It is a LGA 1156 and of course I am looking to replace the ancient thing with a Ivy Bridge I3.
I5 Clarkdake 650 3.2ghz vs I3 Ivy bridge 3220 3.3ghz
They both have the same number of cores and threads. The I5 is priced at $180 and the I3 at $120.
I was just wondering if there is much of a performance issue I'll lose if I go to an I3. The motherboard I have at the moment is extremely crap and you just cant find drivers for it, but if i get a much newer 1155 socket motherboard then there will be drivers for it potentially boosting everything. The I3 is also a 3rd gen while the I5 is god knows what gen.
Obviously the I5 being an I5 is better but if I did choose the I3, would there be a major decrease, or just a little?
