Hello,

Out of these four AMD Recommended Asus motherboards, I can't decide on one. Which one is good for playing video games? and is Socket 754 for AMD Athlon 64's?

Asus K8N-E (nVidia nForce3)

Asus K8V (VIA K8T800)

Asus K8V-MX (VIA K8M800)

Asus K8V-X (VIA K8T800)

Thank you,

Hi,

I did research and found that Asus K8N-E Deluxe (nVidia nForce3) is the best for video games, because of the nForce chip.

I started this thread in october, no need to reply back at this time.

I already got the s754 Asus K8N-E Deluxe nForce 3 250GB and I will get the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ NewCastle 2.4GHz.

My brother picked it up for 177 bucks and is running it in the K8V-X.

It's a no brainer to go with the 939 socket. In 1 year when the kid is yammering for a faster machine, all you will have to do is purchase an Athlon 64 FX55 for about $200 and you will be the kid's hero. Tremendous longevity and super ez upgradeability.

The difference in closeout prices and an A8V is minimal so it's poor economy to go with a 'cheaper' mobo.
