Hello all,
something in work just came up in conversation, it appears I am not the only one here to do this but, I (just started) to collect CPU's. Only got four or five but I am becoming quickly obsessed with it.

Does anyone else collect CPU's here?

Does anyone have any old INTEL/AMD/CYRIX etc cpu's they wish to donate to my new collection?

Regards
David

Oh no....it's just not a well know collectors market. I don't collect (per se'), I just don't get rid of mine.

But if you want them you can have them....we'll need to come to some sort of arrangement. I live across the pond as you guys say it. If your interested int them....PM me.

Hi Dave,

I have been involved with a non-profit I started in 1999 during the FRAUD of the "Y2K bug" insanity. I saw THOUSANDS of computers going into the landfill and decided to use that massive wasted resource as a tool to teach youngsters and 'youthful offenders' a skill, while diverting at least some of the unnecessary waste from the dump.

I have at least ONE example of every CPU, starting with early prototypes, 'home computers' (Apple, Atari, Commodore, Texas Instruments, etc) IBM PC's and PC-XT's, Kaypro and the sort up to the current models. You are not alone in your collecting.

I built two original Altair computer kits that are in museum quality and still functional. I eventually used them in the mid 80's connected in parallel as a Commodore64/128 computer "printer buffer!"

I had one of those Altair computers way back when. Was pretty fun.
I also collected CPUs and memory sticks for a while. Did have a matched pair of pentium pro 60s, that I used for a while til the mobo got fried.
Had a small box of mixed memory maybe 3"x3"x4.5" that I used to pull out when people complained about memory prices, because the list price for everything in the box was over $10,000, and there was less than 1 gig of memory total.
May still have them, but moved a few years ago and got tired of sorting and packing so rented a dumpster and started tossing things based simply on how much dust was on it.
