Hi,

I have recently built a custom computer and mainly use it to play games online. Just for info two of the games I mostly play are halo and world of war craft. What happens is during gameplay the game will all of the sudden freeze and it does it at random times and then I will have to end up rebooting.
I thought the problem might be the cpu overheating so I went out and bought a high performance cooling fan and heatsink but it did not change a thing. I am wondering if one of the system components are bad or if there could possibly be something else wrong.

The system specs are:

power supply-450watts

motherboard-ECS model #648fx-a2

cpu-pentium 4 3.0ghz 478pin HT model#sl7pm

video card-nvidia geforce 6600 256mb AGP

optical-nec dvd burner

memory-2 sticks 512mb

WoW seems to do that alot. It did it on my old computer, and it still does on my new one.
As for other games, no idea there.

I did have this problem in other games for a while, turned out to be my PSU. It started failing, and because of this, it didnt provide enough power for the computer when under stress.
Thats why it only seems to freeze while in games, graphics cards are pretty power hungry, and with CPU also on high usage during gaming, it takes more out of your PSU.

Before buying a new one, I would suggest you try get hold on one from somewhere else, and test it out. If you do get a new one, try and stick with bigh brand names, the smaller ones tend to be lower quality and dont last as long. Im sure there are plenty of lists of who is good or not round here on the forums, just do a search.
