Howdi

I seem to be having an odd problem. I recently received a badly infected machine and had planned to completely wipe windows from it and install ubuntu however, when I entered the BIOS (F10) and changed the boot order to boot from a cd first it failed.

At first things seemed normal. I changed the order (saved and exited) and restarted the machine with the ubuntu cd in it (I had burned and tested the cd on my own laptop before trying this). When the machine restarted however the cd didn't boot and before I knew it XP was starting up.

I know for a fact that the cd works and both the laptop and PC run the same version of Windows XP pro SP2 so any idea why one would work and not the other?
Unfortunately I don't have my old copy of the windows installation cd for the PC so reinstalling windows and trying it again wasn't an option.
I'd appreciate any advice.

Cheers
