1080p streaming requires ~6Mbps
, usually on a single thread
but much is down to the line/connection quality.
Here I average ~16Mbps multi threaded but the quality/single thread speed is very much down to the settings from my provider and the hardware infrastructure, tied into the time of day/congestion. I've had 8Mbps connections where 1080 streaming is close to perfect, 19Mbps where it's been impossible.
A 'good' connex might last for weeks, until the DLM line stats are changed and then I might need to spend hours, even days, testing, resetting the VDSL2 (FTTC) connection, rebooting and sometimes turning off the router for periods longer than 90 minutes at a time before getting another 'good' connection for streaming.
Line stats between good and bad connex might be very large sometimes, but frequently they are almost microscopic.
