My HP Pavilion dv8000 notebook was having problems so I cleared and reformatted the hard drive using PC Beginner. I then installed a friend's enhanced version of XP. Every aspect of computer function I used in my previous set up is present save for the WLAN connection ability in my Network Connections. I surfed the internet for three or four hours looking for a solution and have tried multiple potential ones:
  • Downloading XP SP3
  • Updating all existing drivers numerous times
  • Checking which network adapters were in My Hardware (only LAN and 1394)
  • Installing new adapter through Add Hardware (No WLAN option)
  • Disconnecting and reconnecting stock wireless card and attempting installation again

Clearly none of these have rendered any resulting or I would have no need for this post. What are some recommendations for further attempts at correcting my problem?
Thank you for your time.

Please read the Tech Support Forum Rules & Conduct again. We don't assist with illegal copies of Windows, your friend's "enhanced" version of XP falls into that category.
