Hi,
I wanted to install My tp link 722n adapter on my w7 desktop for testing for the first time

It works on two other laptops fine one w7 other xp (w7 installed Atheros AR9271 on lappy without having to use the disk and worked fine)

Ive tried a bunch of drivers now and they work but wifi adapter does nothing

its shows up in network as installed fine but with red cross on icon like no networks
are transmitting ( there are two other wifi modems in the same room)

Xirrus shows no adapter to use, cant see adapter when ipconfig /all is used only internal network card which is also connect to one modem

its crazy frustrating

cheers
Brett

Disable or disconnect the ethernet connection, reboot, and then test again.

Also, some adapters and/or laptops have a button or app to enable/disable wifi.

Hi Jim
I had to do the test with the network card turned off as it seemed to just reset the lan card

the "release" command said there was no adapter permissible for this operation
so "renew" did the same
and flushdns was successfull

change driver from the new one to old and new again
I dont have a firewall or antivirus on my pc to turn off but I ran this command anyway
netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off,ok
I uninstalled the driver and rebooted it reinstalled driver and said adapter was ready to use

and last one was network reset, no reset in w7 just diagnose and done that 20 times

If you have wifi network profiles stored, you could delete those. > https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...(v=ws.10).aspx

Otherwise, disconnect the adapter, uninstall the adapter from Device Manager, reboot, and then reinstall.
