Yesterday after an automatic windows update, I started having issues with my internet connection. These issues manifested in my network adapter telling me that my network cable was not connected when of course, it was. I could temporarily repair my connection by disabling and enabling my network adapter but this solution lasts for varying amounts of time (from 10 seconds to an hour or so) before the problem occurs again and I lose connection. This is only happening on this computer, other computers are not having this issue in the house which is what leads me to believe its almost certainly a problem with the adapter.

Some fixes that I have tried to no effect:
- changing network cables
- cleaning in and around the Ethernet port on my mobo
- disabling 'recieve side scaling' in my adapters properties
- various duplex settings
- flush/release/renew dns
- both updating and rolling back drivers

Unfortunately i'm unable to do a system restore as windows simply failed to complete one and then deleted the restore points it had created at the time of the update. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the problem as I am currently going on almost an hour with no issues and a stable connection but I have no doubt that will soon change. I am not even 100% sure the update was the cause of the problem but I am now out of ideas outside of buying a network card to stick on my board and hopefully fix the issue, but before i do that I wondered if anyone else had any insight :)

Thanks, I just uninstalled the update and the issue still persists so I guess im buying a network card? I forgot to mention I can stay connected through wireless on a usb which I guess is more evidence to suggest its the onboard adapter.

Reinstall the drivers.
Uninstall first, then restart the computer and finally install again.

Assuming drivers don't resolve the issue (which I doubt, but it's worth trying), then yes, time for a new adapter.

If you have a free slot on the motherboard, you can simply get an internal card (preferred type). Otherwise, there are USB options as well.

Have you an antivirus? Like Panda antivirus or other cloud antivirus?

Slow boot, even during clean boot
For a couple years now my computer has been booting slowly, no matter what I try to do to fix it. Typical boot time is between 81-92 seconds, and even a clean boot took 77 seconds. I know it's not as bad as it could be, but I'm very proud of how clean my computer is, and it's frustrating. One...
