Ok, I just dug up an old laptop i know it worked before i got my new pc i figured ill get if out and mess with it. doesnt have a wireless card so i plug in my ethernet cable go to IE figured it should work and nothing.. i go to the device manager and the etherner adapter has a little yellow bubble with an ! in it and i cannot figure it out help please?

Check the properties of the adapter and see what the error code is. My guess is you have not loaded the correct drivers for this NIC.
