So basically as in the title, please help me find out what i'm doing wrong. I have an Asus P8z77-V LK mobo and from what me and my friend understand i don't need to buy a piece of network hardware (correct me if i'm wrong). In any case the ethernet is plugged in and i can't find whats wrong, please lend me a hand here. (My first build as well)

Make sure that you have installed the motherboard's LAN drivers, either from the disk that came with your motherboard or from the Asus website.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8Z77-V LK

Then, type "ncpa.cpl" at Start, press Enter and you should see your Ethernet controller.

Ok well i can't edit my last message but i'm here now. So what i think i've figured out is that i need to use the Asus EZ Flash Utility and download this file ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8Z77-V LK (second from the top if you select windows 7 64 bit and then LAN which is inbetween Firmware and USB) onto my USB drive and then use the Asus EZ Flash Utility to download the LAN driver into my BIOS. Am I right?

Ok i updated the driver through the USB in windows Device manager rather than through BIOS, thank you for your help of showing me where to download the LAN driver and where to find the network adapter

The download that says "Version 2.0.2.1 is apparently the newest Ethernet Diagnostic utility (though the description is missing) so the second down on the list should be the driver you need. The driver comes in a .ZIP folder with an application that you can run to install it (it's in the Win 7 subfolder).

You should also update the chipset driver -- see the article in the Knowledge section.
