Dear all,

A couple of month ago, I was instructed by a user here to perform a Chrome disinfection. Nonetheless, after doing it all, installing a new version of Chrome (now I am using the canary version), DNS Unlocker came back in full force...

Could Anyone help me out on how to solve this?

This virus is very annoying and keeps opening unwanted tabs.

Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to Tech Support Forum

Please download the appropriate version of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST.exe) from here:
Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (for 32bit systems)
Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (for 64bit systems)
save it to your desktop.
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
  • Double-click to run it.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Here are the files. Sorry for the deleyaed response. My chrome is driving me crazy. I already did these steps before, but after a month everything came back with full force. There is a "real-time" extension installed now.

These navigator viruses are really annoying. Please help me to get rid of it once and for all...

Thank you!

Please do the following:

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts.
  • Right-mouse click JRT.exe and select Run as administrator
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message

NEXT

Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Run AdwCleaner
  • Click the "Options" menu heading on the menu bar and uncheck "Reset Winsock Settings"
  • Now select Scan
  • If items are found, please select the Cleaning button
  • Once done it will ask to reboot, allow the reboot
  • On reboot a log will be produced, please attach the content of the log to your next reply

Thank you.

I did my research and used another tool, zoek. It seems to have cleaned my chrome, but I already downloaded your suggestions and things to run to fix this issue. In fact, I had already ran Adware with no success.

Thank you very very much for the attention. And, in case it gets back again, I will let you know.

Best wishes, Daniel.

Hello Daniel,

ok good.

Chrome is particularly difficult to clean, I'm glad Zoek seems to have done the trick, but if it does return, Chrome will likely need to be uninstalled completely including the profile and any sync data, then re-installed, or the problem keeps returning.

Yes, I already noticed it.

How can I do a complete uninstall, including profile and synced data?

After you saying this, I believe this extension may be tied to my profile somehow and keeps coming back to life I don't know why....

If you could please instruct me on ho to proceed with the complete uninstall I will be very very glad. Does Revo Uninstaller does the trick or should I also delete any remaining Chrome's folder after the software is uninstalled?

Thanks again!

Try this:

Backup Chrome Bookmarks
How to Export Bookmarks from Chrome: 8 Steps (with Pictures)

NEXT - Open Chrome

Open your Google Dashboard. https://www.google.com/settings/dashboard
Make sure you are signed in to your Google Account.
Click Stop and Clear to stop syncing and clear all of your synced data.
Click OK.

NEXT – Uninstall Chrome completely

Now delete the profile folder as well:

(type %appdata% into the search box to open the folder)

C:\Users\“User Name”\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default << right click and delete all the contents of this folder

Note: “AppData” is a hidden folder, so you will need to show hidden files and folders.

Now re-install Chrome and let me know how it goes.

Uninstall Google Chrome Completely from your Computer (Windows 7, XP or OSX)
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2390059?hl=en

Let me know how it goes

I only did not understand the bookmark step. My version here is canary (but the old chrome is also installed). How can I save all bookmarks in this version?

Thanks and sorry if that is a silly question.

I found this as a workaround for that Canary version

Ok, Thanks.

You can mark the thread as solved for now. Eventually, if everything goes bad, I will try your methods and get back with the results for you.

Thank you very much for now!
