Hi all,
Happy Easter.

I have just re-installed XP (from Vista, which is.... well, less than what I had hoped)

My problem is that, when I start the computer, it goes through all the normal things and then I am presented with a nice page with my name on it and I have to press the button on my name, and then it continues to load XP.
As I am the only one who ever uses my computer, I want it to go straight on an load windows.

I don't want any intermediate step.
How do I go about changing it please?
I want to turn on my computer, and then come back in a few minutes and get working. As it is, I have to hang around until my name (along with a cute little picture next to it) come up.

Can anyone help on this?
Thanks
Craig

Have a look in control panel > user accounts. I can't remember the exact procedure how to remove the annoying welcome screen. Try removing all accounts but the administrator account.

G'Day Viper01, And Welcome to TSF!

Further to what eneles has told you....

Try this....

Go into the Control Panel, under User Accounts; then, Pick a Task > Change the way Users log on or off , once in here, tick both boxes for Show the Welcome Screen and Use Faster switching.

This will in effect hopefully cure your issue.

Post back with any further queries/concerns.

Kind Regards,

Hey eneles & chauffer2,
Thanks for your replies. I have done what you suggested, but will not know until I restart the beast. (Currently d/l XP updates, which is taking forever on dialup!)

Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Craig

Thanks for the help.
Now I have another problem. When I started it this time it asked for a password. (The Welcome screen has gone, but he password thing comes up)

There is no password. It is blank. However it is still asking for one (Another intermediate step!)

Please help
Thanks
Craig
