I'm having problems with my computer restarting at random times...
the wierd thing is that it restarts every 5 mins or so but only when i'm not using certain programs.
i can play counterstrike for hours and it won't restart but if i even just leave it on my desktop or do some other tasks then it crashes and restarts saying a serious error has occured.
i just bought new ram and it didnt help so i'm guessing a format is next.
anyone got any ideas on what could be causing it to restart???

Right click My Computer,
Properties,
Advanced tab,
Settings button (Starup and Recovery),
uncheck Automatically Restart.
Now you should get an error message when it happens again.

If it happens on the Internet, then your may be infected with a WORM.

To be on the safe side please do the following
Before running any spyware programs, please run an online antivirus scan at one of the below sites to make sure that you don't have a virus. It is recommended to run a scan online because there are some viruses that can disable or make themselves invisible to the antivirus programs you have on your computer. If any viruses are found, write them down and remove them. Before running any of them, first disable System Restore if you have Windows ME/XP.

Download the following:
www.housecall.trendmicro.com - Online Virus Scan
www.majorgeeks.com - CWShredder
www.lavasoft.com - Ad-aware SE
www.safer-networking.org - Spybot S & D

Then download HiJackThis at www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm you can also download all the above utilities from said site. Please place your HJT logs in the HJT Log Help Forum here at TSF so that a Security Expert can analyze your log.
