I'm having a problem with normal user login. When I'm login using normal account, it somehow hang at the Win XP blue sky wallpaper without any icon on the destop and no start button. Amazingly, it was no problem with the administrator account. If I grant the normal user account with administrator privillege, it can login smoothly. But, later if I remove the admin privillege back, it failed to login successfully. Hope, the experts will help me on this.

Look at what you have in the startup for the user, my guess is something is starting that requires admin rights and will hang you. You might start by using MSCONFIG to inhibit all of the startup items from running to see if this gets the user to boot. Also, have you tried logging off from the administrator and logging on to the user without booting?

I assume you've run virus/spyware scans, right?

johnwill, thanks for the reply.

I've checked the startup and there are nothing required admin rights. But I didnt try to start using MSCONFIG yet (how?). Yupe, I already tried logging off from administrator and logging on back using normal account without booting but still failed. For your information, I simply create new normal user account and guess what? It still hang during login. Yes, I already scanned my computer for viruses but no virus was found.

go [I]start[\I] - [I]run[\i] then type msconfig, then do a selective startup be removing items until a limimted account can sign in without hanging.
