Windows XP reinstall

Is there a way to reinstall windows without losing all the files/programs on my computer? Please say yes...

Yes, you should be able to insert the cd and boot up as though you are going to install the OS and then select repair or if you are given the choice to install new or upgrade select upgrade and this will keep your files.

OS: win 7 32x 64x rtm


set the bios to boot from cd first
pop in the cd and reboot
choose install
ignore the first repair option and continue with install
when windows finds the previous installation
the repair
you will have to reinstall any ms updates again
if your disk does not have sp2 slipstreamed onto the disk,then install sp2
