Windows XP Media Center Edition won't start.

Hello,

i un-installed mcafee from my desktop upstairs which is running windows xp media center... when i try to boot it up, it will pass the beginning screen showing HP/the bios ( i changed it to show the bios doesn't affect my computer) then after it will stay hung at a black screen? if i try to run in safe mode it hangs, last known good config.. same.. system recovery.. same.. it came pre-installed on the computer. is there anything i can do?

My System


Boot off of the XP CD or Recovery Disc and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.

That didn't come with my computer, we got that computer bout.. 3 or 4 years ago

My System


You may have a Restore Partition on your computer. At the POST screen (black DOS screen) you may see a message to press a key to boot into Restore or Recovery Usually F11. If not then You need a XP disc or a Recovery Disc to repair your computer. You can call HP and order one or Try borrowing one or purchase one from Ebay or Craigslist

k... well it's my mom's computer so.. that's why i hate it when she buys computers from Wal*Mart. and if anyone around used XP anymore.. or i had money. -_-
