I have an XP home edition system 1mb Ram/NVDIA 4000 card and have tried to load the Windows 10 Video player and also received notice that I need to install Microsoft Net Framework 1.0 KB928367 and Microsoft Net Framework Ver1.1 KB928366. It goes half way on the install and then I get the notice the updates were NOT installed. What is going wrong with my system. These two are Microsoft programs which are not loading onto my system. It is a legal system... Any comments or suggestions

Hi paperpusher

The .NET framework seems to run into trouble from time to time, you might have success by making sure that your previous aborted installations are cleaned up after, and then trying things again.

Try:
1) Check in Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel) that Windows Media Player 10 and those latest .NET updates aren't listed. If they are, uninstall them.
2) Run the Microsoft tool for cleaning up .NET update uninstallations --- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0343-4ee4-b0c4-97bd16967a09&displaylang=en&tm
3) Run a Registry Cleaner [if you don't have one, CCleaner is a good choice - and it's free --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000-2144_4-10315544.html --- run its Cleaning function to clear up unnecessary temp files, then run its Issues function to clear up Registry tangles -- run the Issues function a few times, until it reports "No Issues Found".
4) Reboot.
5) Visit Windows Update & try the updates again (don't attempt to install Windows Media Player 10 until the .NET issues are OK).
6) If the .NET updates install without problems, try your install of Windows Media Player again.

If you still run into trouble at this point, you could try completely uninstalling your .NET frameworks, running a different Microsoft uninstall Clean-up tool [this time the "MS Installer Cleanup Utility" --- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 ], then run CCleaner again, and then completely reinstall your .NET frameworks from scratch.

Let us know if none of this helps, and we'll look at other options.
Best of luck,
. . . Gary
