Go to Start>Control Panel and double click on User Accounts. Under Pick a Task choose Change the way users log on or off. Check the box next to Use the Welcome Screen, click Apply Options, Reboot.

Got that now....
I used a slip stream utility to install and one of the options in burning the install disk was to have the admin log in automatically. This is causing issues as well in that I changed the name of the administrator to rick (me) and now everytime it tries to log in with the admin id. the admin (now called rick) will not even come up under the users list.

very strange. Any thoughts??

Since you have renamed the administrator account it will not show up. You will have to create a new account with a different name and give it administrative rights.

I renamed the admin back to original name so that is cool. but I can't keep the system from auto loggin on. I setup a password (originally didn't have one) and this has not helped.

excuse my ignorance here:)
