Hey guys, thanks for reading.
My computer came preinstalled with Windows xp Media Center Edition. I dont' have the reinstallation cd for windows mcd, but I do have a windows xp pro reinstallation cd. Could I reinstall windows on my computer with the pro cd and then insert my windows xp media center product key? Hopefully I was clear.

Thanks again, Happy Holidays

You need to have the same version of Windows XP (Home, Pro, MCE) disc and product key or it won't work.

No recovery partition on hd? Dell, you usually can press ctrl and f11 when you see the dll logo and blue bar.

If you have the Dell System restore ( not all Dells do ) you can use that and you will not need a install CD

https://support.dell.com/support/topi...t?docid=181316

If not, You can get a reinstallation guide specific to your Dell here

You can request a replacement instalation cd here:

Thank You guys. The pc restore worked perfectly. One question, is this a one time thing or can I access the system restore on the partition every time I want to reinstall. Just a precaution just in case I need to reinstall again. THANK YOU

If you used the ctrl, f11 function as I suggested that should always work. jusy getting it back to original state basically. Tichnologi12 if you have resolved the problem please go to the top of your first post and click on thread tools and mark this post as solved. TY!
