When I run "sfc /scannow", I get the message to insert the original Windows Xp Professional CD. However, I have XP Home with SP2, which makes Home almost the same as Pro, but I still don't have that CD. It also doesn't accept the SP2 disc.

So I am missing some files, but can't replace them. Do I need to make a Slipstream disc? Does Windows XP + SP1 + SP2 fit on one CD? With sfc /scannow not working I'm pretty much out of options to repair Explorer, other than a full repair.

This issue occurs when the following .inf files contain an incorrect source media description:
Fp40ext.inf
Ims.inf

This should fix you up

You may be prompted to insert a Windows XP Professional CD when you run the System File Checker tool in Windows XP Home Edition
