Hi Guys,
I have Compaq 500 pc and i try to install on it fresh windows xp after format hard drive. But after starting installation it gives message like setupdd.sys could not open and installtion could not possible presse any key to exit.

i have two diffrent bottable cd for XP prof. and Home edition but same message giving in both. i also checked for virus in boot sector but there is no virus in RAM and bott sector also.
So please help me how to install operting system in my pc.

According to microsoft: This issue may occur if your computer contains a hardware component that is either damaged or is incompatible with Windows XP.

We need the exact error message.

A quick check with microsoft shows that you may have a hardware issue. Dissconnect any non-essential hardware and try again.

clear the drive with dban and then try the format and install
