I need some advice on how to outlook express. I am not that knowledgeable about computers. When opening up OE, I have about 53,000 messages being retrieved. All messages from the server have been removed. For some reason I cannot get these messages removed from OE. Everytime I restart my system, it starts retrieving from the beginning. What is going on? How can I get rid of these very old and duplicted messages?
Thanks!
Mark

Hello Mark

Try this and see if it helps
Go to
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4C8F7453-AA91-4A47-9065-876A04FEE4CC}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Click on the file named "Pop3uidl.dbx" with the right mouse button.
Select Delete from the menu.
It will be automatically created again when Outlook Express starts

Since Outlook Express has just lost all memory of which mail it has already seen, expect all mail still on the server to be retrieved the next time you open OE. After that, things should return to normal

.

Thanks for the advice. Is there a way of getting around retrieving 53,000 messages. This will take forever. Thanks,
Mark

If you have deleted all messages from the Server, OE should not be able to download them again

I would do a reboot after deleting "Pop3uidl.dbx" and before opening OE again.
