Ok so I was stupidly messing around in regedit deleting upper and lower filters because I wanted to fix my cd rom drive that wasn't being detected. While I fixed the cd problem, I deleted too many upper and lower filters, and now my keyboard and mouse don't work. I have tried a wireless usb keyboard and mouse and I have tried the really old kind, with the purple and green plug ins. Both let me go to the bios and stuff, and those sort of places, but at soon as the computer goes to the desktop, they both become completely unresponsive. I have tried booting into safe mode and that failed too. Does anyone have ANY idea at all of what to do?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 700+mb ram, 2.66 ghz.

cmos reset
turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
reinsert the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer

there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver
2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper
a cmos clear switch or button
there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual
