Question

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, couldn't tell where to put it. I have WinXP.

I've had this issue for awhile now and nothing seems to change it. Adobe cannot update because 'there is no internet connection.' But there is, I'm here right now...
Yahoo messenger cannot 'download files, check firewall settings'. But again...nothing I do lets these work.
I have turned off each firewall, I've put yahoo and adobe in the allowed/trusted lists.
I have Comodo and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, my Windows firewall has been off for years. So...what the heck is going on, how can I get anything to work properly??
I feel like it's something very obvious that I'm overlooking...

When you look at Network Connections, does Microsoft Virtual WiFi Minport Adapter show?

If so, disable it.

Can you use a hardwired connection and try the update?

Also, I note that your connections say 'Firewalled'.

Yea, that's Windows firewall I turned on to mess with the settings and forgot to turn it back off. As if it might somehow affect it, since this pc already gives me enough crud...ugh.
I'll try the hardwired conn.

Why are you using the Internet Gateway feature? If not needed, there are security concerns:

The Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client Is an Optional Networking Component in Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1a (SP1a)

I don't know what the Internet Gateway is, just always assumed it was a Gateway laptop connection in addition to w/e Wireless internet connection I have.

If I disable it, will my internet still work?

My System

An Internet Gateway is a Router connected to your Modem or a Modem/Router combo. You may want to speak with your ISP's support team to see if you need to have this enabled to access your router.
