I am currently running the following system:
CPU Type:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 3200 MHz (8 x 400)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6
System Memory: 2048 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
Video: Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (1024 MB)
HDD: SATA WDC WD5001AALS-0 SCSI Disk Device (1TB)
OPTICAL-1: LITE-ON DVD SHD-16S1S (16x/48x DVD-ROM)
OPTICAL-2: LITE-ON DVDRW SH-16A7S (16x/6x DVD Burner)
POWER SUPPLY: ZALMAN 850W
I want to add more memory, but since it's a 32-BIT system the most I will be able to use is 3GB or so.
My question is: If I were to add just a matched pair of 500MB DDR2 sticks(total 1GB), would that work, even though I have a 1GB matched pair in slots 1 & 3.(Total 2GB) The 500MB matched pair are the same voltage and speed specs as the ones in slots 1 & 3. So I would get a total of 3GB without spending and wasting money on another 2GB matched pair.
Thanks.
