Dear ALL,

I am studing in japan, and I asked a friend of me to buy a windows XP proffesional from my country, but....

After he bought it and sent it to my, i found a very bad thing...
It is written on the cover that "For distribution only with a new PC"
Also " Licened for distribution only to specific countries within Middle East and Africa" while i am in japan now.

can anyone help me, will that work in my PC, can it be activated, and it will be legal or not because i am subjected to legality check anytime...

thank you all

Hello JakozIII, Welcome to TSF!

That CD should be ok to install as a 'clean' installation.
However, I would telephone the nearest Microsoft Support Centre to confirm that you will not have validation issues.
Just explain to them that you are only studying in Japan and you are not taking up permanent residency in that country.
Hopeful this explains the situation a bit clearer.

Post back with what Microsoft have to say.

Kind Regards,

No that is Microsoft's standard 'phrasing' on the CD.

Hi,

NO...you will only be able to install the Product Key once on either machine.
If you intend to install on both machines, you will need the original Product Key that came with the original installation; then you will be able to use the same CD, but different Product Keys.
Failing to do it this way will put you in violation of the Microsoft End User Licence Agreement (EULA).
Hope this clarifies it for you.

Usually there is a sticker on the rear of the computer case.
The sticker will be similar to the one that is with your new OEM CD.
