Everytime I boot up i've been getting a Found New Hardware prompt to install "Infrared".. I have no idea what "Infrared" is and don't every recall doing anything with the word "Infrared" in it. This has been happening for only 2 days now but it's every boot up. If anyone knows what the problem is, help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Infrared is a form of peripheral connection. It's basically like old school wireless, except the range is extremely short and the infrared "eyes" have to line up perfectly. On top of that, it's horribly slow. Although I think Bluetooth evolved from this, which may be what your PC is trying to install. First try going to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and look for the culprit. If it's not there, try going to Start>Right-click My Computer>Manage>Device Manager and see if it's in there. When/if you find it, delete or uninstall it.

I found it in Device manager, but when i go to Uninstall it, it says, This device cannot be uninstalled, it may be part of boot up. I disabled it and tried to uninstall it but i get the same thing.

Well if you have managed to disable it, does that mean the Found new hardware popup isn't showing up anymore?
