1.A friend of mine was loading SP2 and it froze.
2.Shut down/turned back on went in to an auto "restore"
3. stopped it, shut down
4.turned back on, no splash screen, nothing
5. called tech support, tried restore disks, nothing
6. told her to buy another computer, nothing could be done!!!
Can I take her hd, and slave it to my HP win XP home, recover information, and then, somehow recover her drive without the OEM version of Win XP home?
Appreciate any help.
Regards,

Drive itself should still be good. You will probably be able to recover the data (not certain, but probably) if you slave it to another PC. The data folders (those that contain pictures/music ect.) should still be intact. Program data associated with applications may be questionable depending on state of the OS that the failed upgrade left XP in.

Afterwards you can put the drive back in her PC and using a OEM copy of XP do a fresh install if you want.
