Recently found a IBM Thinkpad R51 discarded behing my building,it booted up and works. Has 1 gig of ram, 1.6 gigahertz, and 80 gig hard drive. Can anyone suggest a good site to download proper drivers from. Who ever had it before me put Windows 7 home basic in it. Thank you very much.

best to go to the manufacture web site for drivers. Laptops :: ThinkPad R Series laptops :: R51 Laptop (ThinkPad) - Lenovo Support (US)

Follow Oscer's suggestion and always download drivers from the computer manufacturers site.

At Lenovo there are no Windows 7 drivers for the R51 - only for XP. As I understand the threadstarter, he wants drivers for Win 7.

Will have to wait for OP to respond. He says it has win 7 home basic. In my opinion they should upgrade ram if they want anything better for os. Or go back to xp.

Go into Device Manager; get the driver name, then look it up in the DRT to get the update site.

DRT - https://www.sysnative.com/drivers
